The Portfolio Architect owns technical decisions and directions for their portfolio. Designs applications and platforms required to automate business processes and meet business needs as an integrated solution. The resulting design may run on multiple platforms and may be composed of multiple software packages and custom components. Assumes overall technical responsibility for the success of cloud / non-cloud solution construction, implementation and system integration. This resoruce will be responsible for backend Delta.com and Fly Delta Mobile App domain.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Architectural Design: Develop and maintain architectural blueprints for software solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical standards.
  • Cloud Integration: Leverage AWS services to design and implement cloud-based solutions, including EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, ROSA and more.
  • Java Development: Lead the development of high-performance applications using Java, ensuring code quality and best practices, ensuring a high level of quality code for each assigned project.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to development teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and operations, to define business needs and ensure seamless integration and delivery of software solutions.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks, ensuring applications run efficiently at scale.
  • Security: Implement security best practices to protect data and applications, including encryption, access controls, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation for architectural designs, development processes, and operational procedures.
  • Keeping abreast of, recommending and driving new technologies towards implementation and exploitation.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • 7 or more years in a Software Architecture or senior Software Engineering capacity at enterprise scale, with a strong focus on AWS and Java.
  • Experience with the architecture and design of enterprise software solutions, applications, integrations, security and platform engineering is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop staff Software Engineers with best practices and leadership.
  • Experience defining and maintaining accountability to Architectural Design Patterns and serving as a technology domain’s escalation point.
  • Proficiency in AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, etc.).
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Advanced knowledge of Java programming language and frameworks (Spring, Hibernate, etc.).
  • Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Highly proficient with leading Agile methodologies, DevOps principles, practices and tools in an enterprise technology environment is required.
  • Expertise in Application Security principles and 12-factor application development principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or related technical field is preferred.
  • Experience working in an airline technology environment is preferred.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
