The Hardware Engineering directorate leads in the mechanical hardware design, development, and production of weapons systems. We use state-of-the-art tools, processes, and technology, with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines, including product engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials engineering, analysis and test, rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation.
The Rapid Hardware Solutions (RHS) department within Mechanical Engineering is chartered to deliver agile services. We bridge across Operations and Engineering, providing solutions through the execution of quick-turn design, procurement, manufacturing, and environmental test services.
RHS is skilled in special test equipment, program trainers, environmental test, and cooling systems mechanical design. We utilize Creo and Common Product Data Management (PDM) with tailored release processes for maximum cross-use and flexibility.
RHS executes prototyping and high-mix/low-rate procurement and fabrication activities with a focus on in-house electro-mechanical packaging, support equipment and liquid cooling systems integration, and partner with outside suppliers to satisfy all demands. We strive to minimize cycle times and provide best value through the utilization of dynamic and agile processes.
This role is for a Section Leader of the Program Trainers Section for RHS in Tewksbury, MA. The purpose of this section is to support the design, build and fly away support of the Trainers product lines. Serving primarily PATRIOT customers, the Trainers group is unique in that they are involved at every step of the production process. Participating in proposals, leading large design efforts, supporting procurement & build efforts, and spearheading fly-away support and sell-off, Trainers is a one-stop-shop for all ME needs. Primary product lines include the Reconfigurable Tabletop Trainers (RT3’s), Patriot Maintenance Trainers (PMT’s) and Communication Operations Trainers (COT’s).
This role is located on-site in Tewksbury, MA.
What You Will Do
Support EACs for work affecting the section
Review of program financial metrics, logging them into EPIC upon completion
Conduct oversight of program scope supported by section.
Support proposal activities for program growth and new pursuits
Drive team to hit cycle time goals and critical design milestones
Coordinate program staffing needs, ensuring that each direct report has suitable work assignment and opportunities for growth and career advancement.
Review command media updates and flow out to the team to implement accordingly
Collaborate with the Department Leader and other RHS Section Leaders in execution of Mechanical Engineering goals.
Oversee training to foster growth of direct reports and maintain/improve skillsets within the section.
Foster teamwork and interdependent execution of tasking
Participate in performance development processes including goal setting, performance reviews and merit allocation.
Support department hiring goals.
Provide guidance, direction, mentoring
Directorate and Business Communication flow down
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and 8 years of prior relevant experience, OR an Advanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience
Experience with PDM and/or related tools
Experience with CREO
The ability to obtain and maintain an U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with Earned Value Management System and the EAC process
BOE certified
Experience with the writing and execution of proposals.
Strong business acumen, communication, interpersonal skills & ability to influence
Ability to interface with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and customers to resolve issues.

This position requires security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
