If so, the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) Mission Success Lead role may be for you.
In this role, you will uphold Mission Success independent review authority for the NGI Program. This is a crucial time with US Executive direction to accelerate development efforts, our All-Up-Round (AUR) CDR planned in 2026, production starting immediately, and potential for significant changes to serve Warfighter needs. The NGI program is one of the main pillars of the Golden Dome for America (GDFA) and ties into world events in the news every day and you will see how your work directly benefits our security as a nation.
The role is integrated with the Strategic Defense Systems (SDS) Mission Assurance Sr. Manager to be responsive and accountable to program needs while ensuring proactive risk management.

This position is the “face” of Mission Success for our internal stakeholders and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Customer. You will have daily interaction with the Chief Engineers’ office, Program Management, and external customer POCs including MDA technical community. Ability to juggle development and production, hardware and software is critical to success in this role.
You will report to the Strategic and Missile Defense (SMD) Mission Assurance Director, and matrixed to the NGI Program Management VP. It is your ultimate responsibility that we deliver the capabilities that Lockheed Martin Space has committed to the MDA with exceptional product quality and using complaint processes.
This is a unique, strategic role with the opportunity to shape our Customers’ view of Mission Success that builds on Lockheed Martin’s world-class legacy in strategic technology. What does this role look like?
Responsibilities include:
• Mission Success Advocate – be the champion to make sure that all aspects related to Warfighter requirements are evaluated and risks managed across NGI and beyond, providing an independent appeal path and independent risk assessments for mission success issues.
• Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Provide expertise to NGI to anticipate, predict, and prevent potential mission risk issues by resolving them as early in the program life cycle and at the lowest program level possible.
• Enterprise Communication – Communicate systemic issues and best practices across the Enterprise, including addressing all bulletins/GIDEP/lessons learned/advisories and coordinating internal MS Audit activities.
• Mission Success Event Management – Manage the MS Event process, including independent review board (IRB) leadership and presentation of issues and recommendations to LM and customer executive leadership
• Failure Resolution Cognizance – Review all major anomalies for adequacy of root cause identification, corrective actions, validity of conclusions, and effectiveness of implemented corrective measures
• Potential Reach Across Cognizance – Ensure issues that have the potential of reach across to other missile development programs are known and communicated
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor or higher level degree in preferably SEM (Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or any other related field) from an accredited university.
• Experience with failure investigations or failure analysis or anything else related
• Demonstrated understanding of risk identification or mitigation or anything else related
• Customer orientated
• Ability to obtain Secret Security clearance
• Willingness to travel ~25 of time
Desired Skills:
• Masters of Science in SEM field from an accredited university
• NGI or Missile Defense interceptor program experience highly preferred
• Demonstrated Speak Up attitude
• Experience across all aspects of the program lifecycle, such as design, development, flight test, and production
• Experience in working with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA)
• Aptitude for Model Based Engineering, Agile processes, and Digital Transformation
• Current Secret or Top Secret Clearance
• Experience in strategic missile systems
• Missile or Space hardware/software development and integration experience
• Demonstrated customer orientation by learning and understanding customers’ missions, needs, and perspectives
• 12+ years of related experience
• Secret clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $151,200 - $266,570. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidates work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as spanet and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $173,900 - $301,415. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
