An exciting opportunity is now available for a Life Cycle Manager within the Minor Vessels (MV) Capability Lifecycle Manager (CLCM) program based at Henderson WA. The Life Cycle Manager is accountable to the MV CLCM Asset Management Lead for the proactive asset management of allocated vessel systems, ensuring the supportability, reliability, and safe operational performance of each system.
The Role
The Life Cycle Manager works within an overarching asset management program model, and strong emphasis will be placed on cultural fit and ability to drive continuous improvement across all program aspects.
Interested candidates need to bring an ability to work within and across enterprise teams, be energised by driving continuous improvement, and be able to deliver within a complex and dynamic business environment. Ideally they will have a sound understanding of project management, systems engineering, data analysis and modelling, maintenance program development and improvement, and supply chain management, and how they interact in a sustainment environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute towards the development of asset management plans.
- Provide system level asset management advice for prioritisation of key initiatives.
- Support capability forward planning through the development, maintenance and utilisation of the System Through Life Management Plan.
- Analysing, prioritising and progression of obsolescence, supportability, and reliability issues.
- Program Management of problem reports and Engineering Change Proposals.
- Contribute towards the development and maintenance of the Activity Based Cost Model, underpinning Naval Sustainment Review Board defensible budgets.
- Chair the System Integrated Product Team.
- Reviewing the effectiveness and implementation of maintenance and inventory optimisation strategies where required to improve safety and seaworthiness and/or to reduce Life Cycle Cost (LCC).
- Identification, treatment and reporting of risks and opportunities to improve asset management objectives, and
- Development and maintenance of Stakeholder relationships.
Skills, Experiences and Qualifications
Essential
- Mechanical, electrical, electronic, communications, Bachelor degree or equivalent industry experience.
- Knowledge of Asset Management Frameworks and/or international standards for asset management systems (such as AS/ISO55001) and the ability to apply it within the Defence context.
- Ability to manage small projects or processes.
- Strong communication skills, coupled with the ability to present professionally to various stakeholder groups directly or in virtual meeting forums.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Australian Defence security clearance.
Desirable
- Experience across operations, maintenance, engineering, and supply functional teams.
- Certified Associate in Asset Management (CAAM), Asset Management Council of Australia.
- Proven in-depth experience mentoring multidisciplinary teams, to include organising, prioritising, and scheduling work assignments.
- A background in defence industry project management enhanced by knowledge in military systems, sustainment and capability lifecycle management and operational programs will be highly advantageous.
