What Youll Get to DoThe Cargo Assistant Manager will assist in overseeing the daily operations and provide assistance to the Cargo Manager as required. This position will provide guidance and direction to cargo employees with an emphasis on quality, efficiency, and safety.Assist with overseeing the daily operationsEnsure all flights are arrived and departed in Amelia and all freight is manifestedGives direction and delegates tasks to crew chiefs and ramp/warehouse/office staffSupervise all staff on floor and perform regular warehouse checksEnsures all daily operation timelines are metEnsures quality of load control information through adherence to load control proceduresAssists Cargo Manager / Base Manager with operational schedulingAssists Cargo Manager / Base Manager with emailing of daily attendance report and any other staff related issuesEnsures employees adherence to all safety proceduresAssists with shift “fill ins” or “call outs”Maintains communication with the Cargo Manager / Base Manager regarding any ramp operational/safety issuesHolding staff accountable for wearing PPE and Calm Air supplied uniformsResponsible for maintaining a safe working environment as per the Cargo Operations ManualRespects and maintains confidentiality with customer and personnel informationEnsures all incidents and accidents are reported in the SMS program either by writing/email or online SMS program provided by Calm AirOverseeing customer communication while on shift and providing feedback to Cargo Manager / Base ManagerEnsuring all customers are provided with proper manifests, emails and consignments and invoices provided by suppliersMonitor competency levels of employees while performing tasks and recommending any further training as requiredOther duties as assignedMANAGERS, SUPERVISORS AND LEADS– have been delegated the authority and are responsible to the Department Head to actively identify hazards and deficiencies and report through the SMS (Safety Management System) Program reporting system. Communicate with all personnel within their respective department and other departments as required to maintain effective day to day activities. Ensure regulatory and company standards are maintained. Assist in the development and maintenance of company processes and procedures. (Quality Assurance activities)Carry out their duties safely within regulatory and company standards, policies, processes, and procedures as trained. Use safety equipment (tools, Proper Protective Equipment etc.) as provided. Actively identify and report hazards and deficiencies (when in doubt report). Assist in development of company processes and procedures as required.Skills & Experience We Value High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Post-secondary education in a related field is considered an assetPrevious supervisory experience an assetProficiency with computers (MS Office)Excellent leadership, interpersonal & communication skillsAbility to work well under pressureExcellent organizational skillsValid driver’s license and able to obtain and maintain pass an AVOP (Airside Vehicle Operator Permit)Must be able to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Security ClearanceInuktitut language is considered an assetPreference is given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries
