Lead A&P Mechanic

STS Technical Services, a trusted aviation staffing leader for over 41 years, is hiring an experienced Lead A&P Mechanic to oversee and support corporate aircraft maintenance operations in Waterford, Michigan. This contract role offers the opportunity to transition to a direct hire position. Corporate airframe experience is required.
In this leadership position, you will guide, train, and equip a skilled team of maintenance professionals while ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant upkeep of corporate aircraft. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate Maintenance Technicians engaged in modifying, maintaining, and repairing aircraft systems.
- Assign workforce tasks, balancing skill sets and operational needs.
- Provide training, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members.
- Foster a positive, safety-focused work environment.
- Perform aircraft maintenance, including:
- Adjusting, aligning, and calibrating aircraft systems.
- Inspecting engines and components for wear or defects.
- Disassembling and inspecting parts for damage.
- Installing and repairing structural, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical components.
- Testing systems with specialized diagnostic equipment.
- Interpret maintenance manuals, drawings, and technical publications.
- Collaborate with project managers to meet deadlines and operational goals.
- Document all maintenance activities accurately in aircraft forms and automated systems.
- Ensure compliance with FAA, safety, and quality procedures.
- Respond to technical, customer, and team inquiries in a timely manner.
- Work cross-functionally to achieve production, quality, and logistics objectives.
Qualifications
- Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License with no infractions.
- Recent hands-on A&P experience with turbine-powered aircraft.
- Proven corporate airframe maintenance experience is required.
- Factory or equivalent training on Gulfstream, Falcon, Learjet, Challenger, Hawker, or Citation aircraft preferred.
- Experience under FAA Part 145 repair station operations required; Part 135 experience preferred.
- Inspection Authorization (IA) and/or FCC License a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair airframe and engine systems with minimal supervision.
- Strong technical reading and interpretation skills.
- Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, overtime, and occasional offsite maintenance.
- Minimum 5 years of aircraft maintenance experience.
- Excellent communication skills, customer focus, and attention to detail.
