GA Maintenance Operations Manager
Executive Leadership Opportunity
Hangar 1 Inc. - Greeley, Colorado
Let me be direct: This isn't a typical management position where you push paper from an office. This is hands-on leadership for someone who lives and breathes aircraft maintenance, who believes excellence isn't a goal—it's the bare minimum. If 'good enough' is acceptable to you, stop reading now. This role is designed for a strategic leader who thrives on building high-performing teams, optimizing complex workflows, and maintaining the uncompromising standards that define Hangar 1 Inc.
THE REALITY OF THIS ROLE
For fifteen years, Hangar 1 has been the facility professional operators turn to when they can't afford downtime. Our clients make their living with their aircraft. When equipment fails, they call us because we get it done right, on time, and within budget.
As Maintenance Operations Manager (MOM), you'll manage multiple projects simultaneously, lead A&P mechanics and Team Leads, interface with clients, and ensure every work order meets our uncompromising standards. You'll track efficiency in Quantum MX, conduct performance reviews, approve invoices, and yes—get your hands dirty when needed.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
In your first year, we expect:
- 85% technician productivity maintained across all teams
- 95% on-budget project completion with detailed variance tracking
- Zero safety incidents or regulatory violations
- Zero invoicing errors requiring client corrections
- Quantum MX mastery with daily efficiency tracking and bi-weekly bonus reviews
- At least one technician promoted or significantly upskilled
- Three process improvements implemented to our SOPs
These aren't aspirational goals—they're the minimum performance standards. If you can't commit to hitting these targets, we're not the right fit for each other.
THE WORK ITSELF
Operations Leadership: Orchestrate workflow across multiple aircraft projects, strategically assign work to Team Leads, set shop schedules for optimal productivity, and ensure 95% on-time delivery.
Team Development: Supervise Team Leads, manage HR issues including attendance and time tracking, conduct performance reviews, write disciplinary actions when needed, and champion safety culture. We maintain 90% team retention through investing in our people.
Client Relations: Be a point of contact for clients as needed. Explain squawk lists in detail, manage project pricing, provide frequent updates. Handle difficult situations professionally, but escalate truly problematic clients to the GM.
Business Management: Collaborate on budget targets, conduct final review of every work order before invoicing, track productivity metrics, and approve all technician hours and parts. Own warranty issues and quality concerns.
Systems & Compliance: Own Quantum MX implementation with daily work management and bi-weekly reviews for technician bonuses. Ensure 100% FAA compliance, compile and improve SOPs, and drive continuous process improvement.
