Job Title: Fuel Cell Mechanic

Job Description

As a Fuel Cell Mechanic, you will be responsible for the removal, installation, and inspection of fuel cells/bladders, as well as the assembly and installation of components such as fuel lines, hardware, and fittings on various aircraft. Your role will involve analyzing aircraft sealing, structural, and assembly drawings to detect deficiencies, diagnosing leak test results, and recommending corrective actions. Additionally, you will perform disassembly and teardown operations of aircraft fuel systems, prepare cavities for installation, and ensure quality standards are maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Perform removal, installation, and inspection of fuel cells/bladders on aircraft.
  • Analyze drawings to detect seal level deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Diagnose leak test results to identify errors in drawings, specifications, and assembly sealing.
  • Disassemble and teardown aircraft fuel systems and related components.
  • Prepare cavities for the installation of fuel cells and components.
  • Use appropriate pressure test equipment and make necessary repairs.
  • Check the condition of fuel cells and internal fittings for any damage.
  • Work from operation sheets, diagrams, blueprints, engineering orders, and mil-specs.
  • Maintain schedules and quality standards, and check work for completeness and accuracy.
  • Notify supervision of any malfunctions, defects, or damages.
  • Keep the work area clean and orderly.
  • Perform assembly and disassembly operations in accordance with directives.
  • Conduct operational checks of aircraft fuel systems and components.

Essential Skills

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in relevant duties.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, assembly drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as torque wrenches and gauges.
  • Experience with hand and pneumatic tools.
  • Capability to operate ground support equipment.
  • Skill in performing fuel/defuel and leak checks on fuel systems.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and remove/install equipment based on blueprints.
  • Knowledge of identifying and treating corrosion.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to document maintenance and repair actions clearly.
  • Adherence to safety regulations while performing duties.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of shop mathematics, assembly methods, and shop practices.
  • Experience working from drawings, sketches, and sample parts.
  • Ability to order parts, tools, and materials as required.
  • Compliance with health and safety regulations.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a non-climate controlled open-bay setting, requiring adaptability to different weather conditions. The role offers flexible working hours with both first and second shifts available. Employees are entitled to expense $100 per year for Steel Toed Shoes, ensuring safety and comfort while on duty. Overtime is optional, providing additional flexibility.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
