- Join a dynamic team as an Aircraft Structures Mechanic where you will play a crucial role in assembling aircraft sheet metal assemblies and subassemblies. You will work on complex manufacturing jigs and fixtures, ensuring precision and quality in each task. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining the integrity and performance of aircraft structures.
Responsibilities
- Assemble aircraft sheet metal assemblies and subassemblies, including mating stress critical joints.
- Read and understand work orders, blueprints, sketches, and operation station sheets to determine sequence of operations, fastener type size, and hole patterns.
- Align and build assemblies and subassemblies on large, complex manufacturing jigs and fixtures.
- Countersink, dimple, ream, chamfer holes on complex structural assemblies for a variety of different fasteners with minimal quality defects.
- Effectively use all hand/power tools required, including portable riveting guns, pneumatic guns, pneumatic drills, counter sinks, rivet shavers, files, reamers, rivets, C-squeeze, ratchet wrench, nut runner, torque wrenches, crimpers, and cable tools.
- Perform inspections and assessments, including analysis of scrap damage, corrosion, or wear and tear of structures.
- Troubleshoot and rework all major discrepancies as necessary, acting as the primary point of contact for all repairs and modifications.
- Maintain designed tolerances, edge distance, and pitch per engineering requirements.
- Measure parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions and use check gauges to inspect holes and fastener tolerance.
- Apply sealants on structural components such as fillet and fay seal as required per engineering.
- Collaborate with Production Supervisor and engineering to implement modifications and upgrades to improve performance and safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills- 5-7+ years of experience, Level III or higher.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints.
- Experience with new build aircraft assembly.
- Competence in using various hand and power tools specific to aircraft assembly.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience with forklift operations.
- Skills in inventory management, data entry, and cycle counts.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and RF scan guns.
- Ability to perform warehouse packing, shipping, and receiving.
- Knowledge of WDS and inventory tracking.
Work Environment- The work environment is deadline intensive, requiring flexibility and overtime. Safety is prioritized, with requirements for steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection where needed. The facility is organized, clean, and well-equipped with good lighting and climate control, ensuring a comfortable working experience.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
