Systems Engineer

Onsite in Huntsville, AL

Target salary range: $90,000 - $180,000.00

Responsibilities:

• Perform requirements decomposition, allocation, and interface definition to convert customer needs into actionable engineering tasks.

• Conduct hardware fault analysis including fault detection and fault isolation.

• Support hardware/software interface alignment and system integration efforts.

• Participate in technical planning, verification and validation, cost/risk analysis, and supportability assessments.

• Translate high-level customer requirements into detailed hardware and software specifications via functional analysis and trade studies.

• Apply Systems Engineering “V” methodology throughout product lifecycle stages.

• Collaborate across engineering domains to ensure traceable, testable, and maintainable systems design

Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
• Active Secret Clearance required

• Bachelor’s degree in a related STEM discipline and 5+ years of experience; or 3+ years with a Master’s, or 1+ year with a PhD.

• Experience with:

  • Systems Engineering “V” model and lifecycle methodologies.

  • Performing engineering analysis, requirements decomposition, and interface development.

  • Diagnosing hardware faults and working with hardware/software integration.

• Final bullet: On-site work required; occasional travel may be needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience on Missile Defense programs, especially GMD.

• Working knowledge of DOORS for requirements management.

• Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).

• Experience with Agile methodologies and serving as a Product Owner.

• Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using Cameo.

• Understanding of automated software requirements testing and DevSecOps workflows.

• Knowledge of software containerization and orchestration tools.
