About This Role

This Software Engineering role is within Textron Systems Land Systems division working with manned and unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) products. Our teams are engaged in multiple cutting-edge development programs for defense applications. The strong candidate will possess a solid knowledge base in software development and design best practices.

We believe people should love what they do - in this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity on both current and next generation technologies in support of our family of Ground Vehicle products

  • Participating in software development of new products across all phases of the product lifecycle from concept development to lab and offsite integration and evaluation

  • Performing software development at component, subsystem and system level including embedded control systems and sensor/operator interface development

  • Working cohesively on a multi-functional team with exciting technologies and products

  • Leadership and individual contributor growth roles are available

  • Providing offsite integration and test support

  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Level II Qualifications

Bachelors degree in computer science or computer engineering or related field required with 2 years of experience or Masters Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related field

  • C/C /Java programming experience

  • Basic shell scripting experience

  • Network/Serial/CAN interface development experience is a plus

  • Knowledgeable of Object-Oriented Analysis (OOA)/Object-Oriented Design (OOD)

  • Comfortable working in Unix based development environments

  • Experience with Jira and using Git or Mercurial configuration management tools is a plus

  • Traveling up to 15 of the time Level III Qualifications

Bachelors degree in computer science or computer engineering or related field required with 5 years of experience or masters degree in computer science or computer engineering or related field with 2 years of experienceUnderstanding of general automotive systems and functionsUnderstanding of robotics systems including sensors, actuators, mechanical, algorithms and software systemsProfessional experience in autonomous driving or robotics industry with experience in software/system integration and field-testing a plus

Experience with MIL-STD-882E software development preferredExperience with defect tracking tools, CI/CD pipelines, Git/MercurialExperience with UML or MBSE tools like Magic Draw preferredEffective writing and presentation skillsExperience interfacing directly with customers

  • Traveling up to 15

In compliance with the local pay transparency law, the pay range for this position is

$85,900 - $129,700 per year.
