Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Engineering Technician – Level 2 to join our team in Promontory, UT.
The candidate will be responsible for preparing, testing and evaluating a wide variety of adhesives to support laboratory testing and quality assurance processes. This role plays a critical part in ensuring material integrity, regulatory compliance, and accurate test results.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Collect representative samples in accordance with engineering, regulatory, and laboratory requirements.
Verify material identification and ensure traceability during the fabrication and testing process and ensure all materials are properly labeled and stored following engineering and planning requirements.
Communicate any inconsistencies, deviations, or safety concerns to appropriate personnel.
Adhere to safety and hygiene standards, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain laboratory infrastructure including sample preparation and equipment set-ups and breakdown. Candidate will be expected to maintain a high standard of operational discipline to support clean, safe, and efficient operations.
Work with LIMS, Quality, and inventory databases to track material and test results.
Basic Qualifications:
Familiarity with MSDS/SDS and hazardous material handling procedures.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
Comfortable working in environments that may involve exposure to chemicals, noise, and temperature variations.
Use of PPE including gloves, safety glasses, lab smocks, and ESD safety shoes is required.
Basic computer and software competencies are required.
Flexibility to occasionally work swing shifts and weekends when required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or warehouse environment, especially with chemical handling, is highly desirable.
2+ years of hands-on experience with adhesives in engineering, manufacturing, or lab setting.
Strong understanding of adhesive chemistry and bonding principles.
Knowledge of surface preparation, application techniques, cure cycles, and post-processing.
Mechanical testing knowledge (e.g., tensile, shear and peel strength).
Familiarity with ASTM methods related to adhesive performance.
Experience with handling and disposal of energetic materials
