We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Flights Engineering team, specifically focusing on Search / Ancillary capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend and frontend technologies, a passion for developing scalable and robust flights systems, and a proven track record of managing engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Flights Engineering team responsible for the development and maintenance of the Flights platform focused on Search, Ancillary for Pre-booking and Post booking journeys.

• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of backend services using Java, Spring Boot, SQL, Redis, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Ensure the integration and seamless functionality of frontend components developed with React for web and React Native for mobile applications.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, UX/UI, and Operations to deliver high-quality and reliable flights solutions.

• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

• Drive the adoption of best practices in software engineering, including code quality, testing, and automation.

• Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and staffing for the Flights Engineering team.

• Monitor system performance and reliability, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.

• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our flight platform remains competitive and innovative.

Technical Requirements:

• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.

• Strong experience with SQL and database design.

• Knowledge of Redis for caching solutions.

• Expertise in deploying and managing services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Solid understanding of React and its ecosystem.

• Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor, motivate, and guide a team of engineers.

• Analytical Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a strategic approach to addressing challenges.

• Communication: Excellent communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement and team collaboration.

• Project Management: Effective project management capabilities to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Masters degree preferred.

• 8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.

• Proven experience in building and maintaining high-performance, scalable microservices.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make technical decisions in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.

• Experience with other cloud platforms and technologies.

• Knowledge of travel tech and APIs and practices of travel tech companies.

• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.

Reporting Line:

This position reports to the Head of Engineering Flights.
