DPP is seeking Accessibility Test Automation Engineer for an opportunity in Columbia, SC.

Work authorization: Candidates must be eligible to earn a low-level US security clearance (Public Trust).

Position summary:
  • We are seeking an experienced Accessibility Test Automation Engineer to join the Automation Development and Performance Testing (ADAPT) team within Validation Services.
  • This role focuses on automated and manual testing for Section 508 and WCAG compliance, supporting enterprise web applications.
  • The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with automation developers, accessibility experts, and manual testers to ensure maximum compliance coverage using both automated and manual testing approaches. 
Required technical skills:
  • Accessibility automation development
  • Section 508 testing and compliance validation
  • WCAG standards and audit techniques 
Nice to have:
  • JAWS (Job Access with Speech)
  • Selenium automation, particularly using Axe library for accessibility testing
  • Accessibility Management Platform (AMP) experience 
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct Section 508 and WCAG accessibility audits for client-developed websites
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated accessibility test scripts
  • Collaborate on enhancements to the Selenium-based automation engine to support accessibility testing
  • Identify accessibility requirements or compliance issues that cannot be automated and partner with the manual testing team for coverage
  • Train and mentor team members on 508 accessibility standards, testing approaches, and automation best practices
  • Support defect identification, validation, and retesting of accessibility fixes
  • Analyze automation gaps and recommend improvements to tools, processes, and coverage 
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • 6+ years of application development, systems testing, or related experience
  • 2+ years of test automation development specifically focused on 508 compliance
  • Demonstrated experience training others on accessibility standards, development, and testing
  • Strong working knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 
Required education/equivalencies:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree;
  • OR, Associates degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree plus 2 years of work-related experience;
  • OR, 4 years job-related work experience (total 10 years without a degree) 
Team and technology environment:
  • The ADAPT (Automation Development and Performance Testing) team is the development arm of the Validation Services department and consists of:
    • 8 Developers
    • 2 Process Experts
    • 1 Team Lead
  • The team has developed a custom Java-based automation framework (Selenium-Engine) built on top of Selenium. The framework uses a Keyword-Driven Architecture with over 400 supported operations, allowing flexible and scalable automated test creation.
  • In addition to accessibility and functional automation, the team:
    • Maintains and enhances regression automation suites
    • Develops new test automation solutions
    • Provides load and performance testing support
    • Is currently scaling a Synthetic Test Data Generator to support IT and customer testing teams 
Schedule:
  • Hours: Standard 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Flexible start/end times between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM (manager-approved)
  • Minimal overtime may be required (up to 5 hours per week) based on project delivery needs
