Overview
Seeking a Director of Avionics to lead avionics operations, installations, and team performance across corporate aircraft programs. This role requires a strong mix of leadership, technical expertise, and hands-on involvement to ensure high-quality installations and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all avionics installation and integration projects
- Lead, manage, and develop avionics teams (10+ technicians and leads)
- Remain hands-on as needed to support installs and troubleshooting
- Ensure all work meets FAA regulations and manufacturer specifications
- Drive quality, efficiency, and on-time project completion
- Troubleshoot complex avionics issues and guide teams to resolution
- Implement process improvements and best practices
- Coordinate with leadership, engineering, and maintenance teams
Requirements
- 10+ years of avionics installation experience on corporate aircraft
- Strong working knowledge of GARMIN avionics systems (hands-on experience required)
- Proven leadership experience managing teams of 10+
- Ability to lead while staying engaged on the floor
Aircraft Experience Preferred
- Falcon Jet, Gulfstream, Citation
- Bombardier, Learjet, Challenger, Global Express
- Hawker, Beechcraft, Embraer
Certifications & Background
- Factory avionics certifications preferred
- A&P License a plus
- Stable work history (1+ year at each position)
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs)
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and engineering data
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
